Teen anxiety often shows up as irritability, avoidance, trouble sleeping, perfectionism, and physical complaints like stomach aches or headaches.
1. Signs of Anxiety in Teens
Teen anxiety isn’t always obvious — especially when it doesn’t look like fear or panic. You might notice:
Constant worrying or overthinking
Avoiding school or social situations
Trouble sleeping or frequent nightmares
Physical symptoms (stomachaches, headaches, nausea)
Irritability or emotional outbursts
Restlessness or fidgeting
Perfectionism or fear of failure
If your teen says “I’m fine” but their behavior shifts, anxiety could be hiding underneath.
2. Is It Just Stress — or Something More?
Stress is part of life. But when it starts interfering with school, friendships, sleep, or self-esteem, it might be more than a rough patch.
Ask yourself:
Are these feelings lasting more than 2–3 weeks?
Is my teen withdrawing or lashing out more than usual?
Do they seem stuck in a constant “what if” loop?
These are all signs it’s worth checking in with a professional.
3. How Therapy Helps Teens Manage Anxiety

Trauma-informed care
Mindfulness and body awareness
